In this episode, I talk with Mises Institute president Jeff Deist about Austrian economics, the Fed, Trumpanomics. the biggest threats to our freedom, and of course, gold.
Jeff spent many years as a tax attorney (we talk a little about that) before working as an advisor and chief of staff to Congressman Ron Paul. As president of the Mises Institute, he serves as a writer, public speaker, and advocate for property, markets, and civil society.
Jeff and I cover a number of political and economic topics, including how the Austrian School of economics differs from some of the other approaches and what the Austrians bring to the table. We also talk in depth about the Federal Reserve and how it has distorted the economy, the impact of Nixon closing the gold window and whether or not Trumpanomics is really making America great again. And in my favorite part of the interview, Jeff gives a very interesting answer to the question: what is the greatest threat to our freedom?
